Thank you for considering an ARF dog. Most dogs receive several enquiries, and we aim to match the right dog to the right home so that they can enjoy a happy life together. If your enquiry is unsuccessful, rest assured that the foster carer has carefully based their decision on a thorough knowledge and understanding of the dog’s needs.

Rosie is assessed as being in the Silver category in our Perfect Match system and will be microchipped, desexed, vaccinated, wormed and available for $350 (incl GST).

rosiemain

Gorgeous Rosie is a beautiful wee snuggle-nugget staffy. She was incredibly shut down and scared when we first met her at the pound, but immediately came out of her shell as soon as she passed the front gates and has been growing in confidence ever since!

She’s only young (approximately 18 months old) and didn’t seem to come with much in the way of prior training, or indeed know how to play with toys. However, since arriving in care she has been rapidly making up for lost time. This fast learner now knows sit, drop, and (more importantly) how to catch treats, play ball, has learned the rules of “hide and seek”, and plays with a tug and stuffed toys.

Rosie is a gentle soul that often finds new things a bit scary, but gleans a lot of confidence from other dogs. She is a very friendly pooch and instantly made friends with her foster brother. It’s fair to say that she doesn’t need much encouragement to instigate a game of ‘zoomies’ and has her own distinctive play style, offering rapid stop/start play bows until her partner in crime reciprocates.

Rosie loves her people and always greets us with a full body wag and big staffy smile. If she’s REALLY excited to see you then she scrunches up one side of her face to give you a full “Texan wink”. Her soft and beautiful nature abounds and she likes nothing more than hanging out with her people. Earmuffs are advised, as she will readily stick her tongue into any unprotected ear canals. We’re sure that she’d fulfil the role of plus-sized lap dog given half the chance – she has a somewhat diminutive stature height-wise, but is a fairly square unit so would require a sturdy lap, however.

Rosie loves to please and is progressing very well with her training. She would love an active and lively home where she can fully participate in family life. Ideally she would have another dog for company, but is very people focussed so may also suit single dog living provided she gets lots of attention and regular access to other doggy friends.

It seems that not much work training-wise was put in prior to coming into foster care, so it would be great if her new home were able to continue her upward trajectory. She takes a lot of confidence from other dogs and likes to follow their lead. Regular short spells of training independent of the other dogs in the house would be a great way to ensure that she keeps building her own confidence and doesn’t rely on the other dogs in the house to make all the decisions. Teaching her new games is probably the most fun way to achieve this for all involved!

rosiekong

Rosie has been a fantastic foster – a gentle soul that’s both playful and cheeky, while maintaining a soft timidity that can’t help but tug on the heartstrings. She continues to surprise us each day as more of her cheeky personality starts to shine through. She has been a fantastic friend to her foster brother (who often doesn’t get along with the dogs we foster) and we will be incredibly sad to see her go to her new home. A genuine sweetheart who’s perfect for anyone looking to adopt a smallish, gentle, pooch that has more than a pinch of square-headed playful boofer in the mix too! If you see a twinkle in Rosie’s eye and feel she would be your perfect companion then please get in touch with us via email to arrange a chat.

Princess only arrived in care a few days from a country pound so we cannot tell you that much about what sort of home will suit her best or any of her little quirks. We can say this much though:

Perfect Match category: Silver. Will need some attention to reinforcing training, and daily exercise. No behavioural issues identified yet, but only knows how to sit. Working on expanding that.

Activity level: Medium – but It’s early days. she seems very happy to curl up at your feet. So far seems very chilled out, Not hyper energy wise, doesn’t bark. she perks up with walks around the yard, and will benefit from daily walks once quarantine is over. she is a bit bouncy, but certainly eager to please and very “trainable”.

After enjoying  Princess’ company in care for a while it is evident that her new home  should have at least one other dog and preferably someone home during the day (or at least that she is not left for 8h/day on her own).

Watch this space.
