Scout

Feb 10, 2017

Thank you for considering an ARF dog. Most dogs receive several enquiries, and we aim to match the right dog to the right home so that they can enjoy a happy life together. If your enquiry is unsuccessful, rest assured that the foster carer has carefully based their decision on a thorough knowledge and understanding of the dog’s needs.

Scout is assessed as being in the Silver category in our Perfect Match system and will be microchipped, desexed, vaccinated, wormed and available for $350 (incl GST) once he has completed his quarantine and vetwork.

Scout has found his new home and all going well he will be moving in shortly

Scout has just arrived into care and has immediately established himself as the life of the party. He is an absolute goofball who loves to play, and is easy on the eyes as well! If you’ve been looking for a dog that will always be up for a game of fetch, hide and seek, or tug-of-war, then Scout might just be the dog for you.

Scout isn’t fussy about his playmates, he’ll play with anyone who is willing – other dogs, people, or a squeaky toy if there’s no one around to play with him. His two favourite toys at the moment are his squeaky football and his tennis ball, and he’ll happily fling those around the backyard on his own if you’ve had enough playing for one day.

One of Scout’s quirks is that he loves water– he’ll dive straight into a paddling pool, and will even join you in the shower if you give him half a chance. We haven’t tried him out at the beach or lake yet but we think that would be his idea of heaven.

scoutlu

Don’t be fooled by his suave good looks and big grin, Scout is a smart little pupster who will need a home that will keep his mind and body working. Since coming into care without knowing much at all, Scout has learned to sit, drop and shake hands. He is desperate to please and wriggles his whole body with joy when he learns something new and is told what a good boy he is!

scoutnsib

Because Scout is still a puppy at heart, he will need to have another patient doggy pal around to play with, keep him company and teach him the ways of the world. He gets along well with his ancient foster sister, but would probably be happier with a dog a bit closer to his age.

If you are looking for a gorgeous, active little dog, and you have another friendly dog who would like a new mate, then please send some information about yourself and the life you could offer Scout to his foster carer.

Sam is a Foxie mix and Millie is a Cavalier  mix. Both are assessed as being in the Silver category in our Perfect Match system and are microchipped, desexed, vaccinated, wormed and available within the ACT and nearby NSW for a total of $300 (incl GST).

Millie and Sam are best mates. They love to hang out, play and sleep together, so they’re looking for a home together. They are easy to live with and love lots of cuddles with people they know.

mnsoaa

Sam is shy little dog but he soon warms up and wants pats from strangers.  Millie is more adventurous generally, but finds it quite hard to meet new people.  They’re both very cuddly once they get to know you. In their foster carer’s home, they’re relaxed and easy going.  They’re best suited to a quieter house, with an older person or couple.

Millie

Millie is nine and Sam is about six. Millie has a heart condition. It doesn’t slow her down and she still loves to play and go for walks, but she will need to take medication for the rest of her life at a current cost of about $75 per month.

Both dogs travel well in the car and love their walks.  They don’t need a lot of exercise, but do like a walk each day to keep life interesting.  They sleep quietly through the night and are beyond the age where they’re destructive.

samout

They are looking for a home where they’ll be included as part of the family and have access to part of the house or an enclosed verandah when people are out.

If you can offer Millie and Sam a great new home, contact their foster carer and tell her a bit about yourselves and the home you’d offer them.

Topsy is a unique little girl with loads of quirky personality and character.  She is an affectionate and loving little cuddle-pot with lots of expression in her dear little face.

Topsy loves to sit on your lap and watch television with you, literally watching television cheering on the footballers and chasing any animals off the screen.

Topsy loves all her family and friends, both dog and human and is ok with cats. She is very close to her doggy friends in the foster home and is always playing and cuddled up to them. She enjoys a lot of contact with her buddies and must be in a home with another friendly dog for companionship. It is most important for her to be a true, included part of her family.

Topsy does have special needs as she has been diagnosed with hip dysplasia and early arthritis in her hips.  She will need a family that will be committed to ongoing management of her hip issues and any pain that could be associated with this in the future. It is likely that this will shorten her life but at this time it is very manageable and she is a very happy little dog.  Topsy is also bald on her underside. A number of tests have been undertaken to determine the cause and it appears that it may be pattern alopecia, meaning that hair will not grow. This condition requires regularly baths and a premium quality diet to keep the skin healthy.

All this aside, Topsy is loved by everyone who meets her and is never short on making new friends. She really is one quirky and cool little dog!
