Thank you for considering an ARF dog. Most dogs receive several enquiries, and we aim to match the right dog to the right home so that they can enjoy a happy life together. If your enquiry is unsuccessful, rest assured that the foster carer has carefully based their decision on a thorough knowledge and understanding of the dog’s needs.

Rusty is assessed as being in the Silver category in our Perfect Match system and is microchipped, desexed, vaccinated, wormed and available for $350 (incl GST).

Hi Potential Adopter,

My name is Rusty and I am a middle-aged, though young at heart, gentleman.
There are 3 things in the world that make my day:
1. My human kisses and belly rub
2. Food and treats
3. The squeaky ball

I naturally love humans and want to obey everything you say; however, it is in my cattle dog’s DNA to be a little shy and wary of new things, so it will take me a little while to warm up to you. But if you give me a belly rub or scratch behind the ears, I will fall head-over-heels for you.

I love going out on walks short or long. I generally wear Halti (Head Collar) when out and about because this helps me to learn my leash manners and makes me look very dignified. So far on our walks, we have been working on coming when called, heeling on mommy’s left hand side and “leave” others/things along when told.

I am a good-natured dog (according to compliments from everyone who meets me) and very affectionate and responsive. This has helped me achieve very solid basic training, plus a few little tricks in between. I sit, drop, go to bed/crate, wait and stay on command as they make my foster mommy happy.

I am toilet trained and I know how to use a doggie-door. My boundaries are clear and I understand that I am not allowed on the sofa or bed, I let my human go through the door first and I wait until I am told to eat my dinner.

According to the Myers-Briggs personality types, I am more of a ISFJ– a defender/protector who is very dedicated and warm, always ready to defend my loved ones. This makes a great guard dog, yet hinders my ability in making doggie friends. We are currently working on my self control and motivation.

Are you my new Mommy and Daddy?

Things I look for in my new home:
• I am ONLY baby in the house – this means no children, cats, bird or the like. I can entertain myself throughout the day if you work full-time and I will guard the house for you.
• Continuous training and development to help me improve my social skills.
• Regular exercises including long walks over the weekends.
