I’m Skye, a very sweet little Pug x Jack Russell. Don’t let my size fool you, I love my walks and playing with squeaky toys.

I’ve had some challenges in my life and have come into care scared and nervous. I have been quickly learning to live a family life, though I still get nervous at times, especially when there are loud/new noises. I love being with my humans, especially my foster mum (she calls me her little shadow!), I know I can be a bit needy.

I love:

  • Exploring & sniffing when I’m out on a walk
  • Living with other calm dog/s as they give me confidence
  • (Lots of) Snuggling with you on the couch!

I don’t like:

  • Doorways – Although I am improving, I am still a bit scared sometimes to walk comfortably through them or narrow hallways
  • Men – In general, they make me very nervous and it takes time for me to trust they will be kind to mem
  • Being alone – I get anxious when I am left home alone and will bark to let everybody know. Other than this, I am incredibly sweet and quiet.
  • Thunder and storms – I really don’t like these, they make me scared and they make me shiver and look for mum for support.

I am really proud of myself though, because every day and every week I am getting braver and enjoying my new life so much.

I love to follow my foster mum around all day, and will curl up at her feet – I am so the best Working from Home buddy!  I happily will lay in my bed next to the office desk, and then I will lay in my crate/bed in mum’s room at night.  My housetraining is coming along really well, and it has been a while since I have had an accident inside.

To help me become a more confident and happy dog, my new home will need to have another smaller, calm and friendly dog for company.  My adoptive mum and family will need to have a quiet home and need to understand that I am a bit nervous and will work with me to build my trust.  I love treats, so make sure you have plenty on offer.  Because of this, I am best suited to a home without lots of activity or young children.  I do have a strong Jack Russell side, so am also best in a home without cats or pocket pets.

Update:   Skye is going from strength to strength with her confidence building more quickly. She is LOVING getting out for walks and frequenting dog friendly cafe’s etc.  She really is a lovely girl!  Check out this video of Skye enjoying her walk! https://youtu.be/ejC2bmlh76k and https://youtu.be/3Yg5ApYjmE8
