Roisin

Roisin

Animal ID No: ARF699
Rescue Date: 13 March 2021
Adopted Date: 25 June 2021

Sweet Roisin (pronounced “Ro-sheen”) is a lovable cuddle-bug looking for the perfect forever ever after home.

Roisin is super affectionate and loves all people, because people provide food, scratches and pats! She is looking for a home that can provide her with lots of love and attention, daily walks and tennis balls. Roisin likes to come into the bedroom just as you’re waking up to shower you with licks, it’s not for everyone, but she’s just so happy to see her people! Roisin sleeps soundly (well she snores a little) in her crate or other soft surface through the night, she’s perfectly house-trained and uses the dog door to take herself outside when she needs to. She has been living in an apartment too and with regular trips outside she’s adjusted well with no accidents indoors.

Roisin is approximately 8 years old but she’s still got a spring in her step and if you aren’t watching does gently jump up to give you a lick, she doesn’t have a mean bone but she’s probably a bit much for young children.  Roisin is pretty strong on leash and when she’s determined to go somewhere it can take reasonable effort to change her track, Roisin is working on her dog reactivity and leash manners including loose leash walking, and is doing well but this will need to be kept up in a new home. She’s learning to wait in doorways, stopping to cross the road, not barking at other dogs and to get off furniture when asked, she’s a funny dog she knows very well what you ask her to do but she can give you a bit of attitude. Roisin is okay with other dogs but her time with them is best in short bursts with close attention from people, she’s wants to play but other dogs don’t understand her pushy style and this can result in disagreements, she currently lives with another female dog so she can coexist but it’s not ideal long term. She’s not met cats but she’d probably chase them. As an older dog Roisin has had some vet treatment while in care, she’s recovered well from surgery but prospective owners need to be aware that as dogs get older they do need more regular veterinary treatment.

The perfect home for Roisin would have active adults who enjoy daily exercise, she really loves helping her foster carers to work from home so it’d be great if she had people company at least part of the week, that way they can spend their time giving her pats! On the weekends she enjoys a long walk up the hills of Canberra, like Mt Painter, or Mt Taylor.  If this sounds like you please contact Chloe telling her a bit about the home you can offer. Roisin is not suited to living as an outside dog or with other dogs.
