More About Nikki

Nikki is a sassy, energetic, loving and intelligent youngster who is eager to learn.

She is a great companion, loves a cuddle and wants to be involved in what’s going on around her, but she also is independent and happy to play by herself. She likes to be busy and is always ready for action, especially a game of tug! Having said that, Nikki understands that regular periods of down time are a good thing, and she is more settled with a balanced routine of activity followed by rest.

A home with space to move and plenty of daily physical activity, training and mental stimulation (trick training, puzzle toys etc) will help Nikki thrive. With her eagerness to learn and natural athleticism, she will excel in dog sports such as agility, flyball and other activities that challenge her physically and/or mentally.

Having missed out on early exposure to the outside world as a pup she can be a little unsure about new situations, or can get excited when meeting new people. Ongoing exposure to new environments and situations will help grow her confidence. She is getting the hang of not jumping up on people, so may not suit a home with little children.

Bred to handle unruly livestock, Nikki’s tenacity can occasionally shift to stubbornness if she’s asked to do something she doesn’t want to do. Her new family will need to provide her with clear, consistent boundaries.

Nikki will thrive in a family who are experienced in meeting the needs of a young working dog and are committed to fulfilling her inherent need to be busy.  If you are thinking about adopting Nikki, please first consider whether she will align with your lifestyle.

Thank you for considering an ARF dog. Most dogs receive many enquiries, and we aim to match the right dog to the right home so that they can enjoy a happy life together. If your enquiry is unsuccessful, rest assured that the foster carer has carefully based their decision on a thorough knowledge and understanding of the dog’s needs.
