Are you looking for a girl who’ll greet you in the morning with a very waggy tail, a big grin and a request that, if it’s not too much to ask, a short walk might be in order to start the day off with some healthy exercise?

Are you looking for a girl who’ll sing to you (lyrics including “awoowooo” and the even more heartfelt “awooowooowooooo!”) when you get home from work, because it’s the best thing ever to see you again?

Are you looking for a girl who spends most of the day snoozing on the lounge or the back deck or the cool tiles (depending on the day) after her walk and is safe to leave at home by herself with access to the house, because she’s got excellent house manners and is perfectly house trained?

Are you looking for a girl who has been working super-hard on her loose lead walking and now aces it 99% of the time – so much so that her carer will often walk her while both reading a magazine and drinking a coffee?

Then Phoebe might be the girl for you.

Phoebe is a gorgeous big boofer dog with a heart of gold and a firm conviction she could be a lap dog (fortunately, she’s also good at accepting when she’s told “off to bed!” though she will give you the best hangdog look when you say it).

Version 2

Phoebe is pretty much perfect in the house, with great manners and is super-duper lovable. She loves kids and visitors (once she’s got over a bit of initial shyness with men) and seems to enjoy spending time with other dogs. Because she’s very big, it would suit her best for any other dogs in the house to be around the same size and not be too energetic (Phoebe is a VERY firm believer in the restorative power of all-day snoozing and wouldn’t want to spend TOO much time playing). Phoebe is an excellent destroyer of tennis balls and stuffed toys and is a big fan of a peanut butter Kong in the morning. She will also sell her soul for a chicken neck.

Version 2

Phoebe has been doing lots of work on her loose lead walking and is now pretty fabulous at it most of the time. She maintains her loose lead skills through good management on walks: basically, this means you need to take a big bag of meaty treats with you and supply them fairly regularly. Phoebe’s only real weakness on walks is if she sees a cat – cats are VERY exciting! She has been working hard on this and is getting a lot better (mostly there’s a lot of embarrassing singing as her carer turns her around and walks quickly in the other direction) but it is something to be aware of. Her carer (despite the magazine and coffee) does keep an eye out at all times just to make sure nothing too exciting is around and this has helped Phoebe learn to be much calmer on walks. Phoebe used to try and eat the magpies too, but has learned that when they turn up, meaty treats are distributed liberally, so she’s now learned to pretty much ignore them even when they’re only a couple of feet away.

Phoebe’s carer is happy to spend as much time as needed with any prospective new Phoebe-people to make sure they understand how to make walks for Phoebe a fabulous experience all around.

Phoebe doesn’t bark much and takes treats very gently. She’s excellent at being handled all over and loves to be cuddled and fall asleep watching TV with her people.
