Willow

Jun 10, 2019

Thank you for considering an ARF dog. Most dogs receive several enquiries, and we aim to match the right dog to the right home so that they can enjoy a happy life together. If your enquiry is unsuccessful, rest assured that the foster carer has carefully based their decision on a thorough knowledge and understanding of the dog’s needs.

Willow is assessed as being in the Silver category in our Perfect Match system and is desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed and available for $350 (incl GST).

Willow is a tiny, pocket-sized shepherd, but don’t let her size fool you! This little lady is full of go, and loves a good game, especially anything that involves balls or frisbees. She will chase those forever. She is a very active girl, who loves playing, going for long walks, and would make an ideal jogging partner.

Willow is highly food- and ball motivated and is a dream to train. She came into foster care without any training, but she learns very quickly and loves to work with people. She has made great progress on some basic training such as ‘sit’, ‘down’, ‘shake’, ‘wait’, ‘no’, ‘leave it’, ‘off’, and short stays. She has also made some good progress on loose lead walking while in foster care but has a little way to go in that department.

Further training in general would be very beneficial for this smart girl. Both German Shepherds and Malinois are highly active and extremely intelligent dogs. Willow will need an outlet for this energy and participating in some sort of dog sport would be highly beneficial for her. She is not suitable for somebody who is only interested in her as a (backyard) pet. She is currently an indoor/outdoor dog and will require a home where she can be part of the family.

Willow is a very social girl, and in general gets along with everybody, whether they are human or dog. She is quite cautious and can get insecure at times, especially if she encounters something that she has not seen before. She will need ongoing confidence building to help her deal with those situations.
