Barney

Barney ON hold

Animal ID No: ARF453
Rescue Date: 21 May 2022
Adopted Date: 13 November 2022

MR PERSONALITY! – If you’re looking for a dog to make you laugh, this is your boy.

Barney is a very big, goofy dog, full of energy and fun with bucket loads of love to give.  He is strong and healthy and loves to please his humans.  Still in his latter puppyhood, Barney loves to play.  He will chase and bring back a ball, play tug o war and run around like a lunatic with you.  He is a ball of affection who adores spending time with his people.

Barney needs to spend time indoors as well as outdoors and is not suitable to be left in a yard on his own all day every day, although he manages well for a few hours at a time. He hasn’t shown any signs of fence jumping or digging out, although he is an accomplished chewer and will need plenty of high density chew toys.  He may chew landscaping and any other outdoors items until he grows up a bit.

There is not a mean bone in Barney’s body.  He loves everyone and every dog.  Unfortunately, due to his size and as yet undeveloped dog to dog manners he can often frighten other dogs with his over-the-top enthusiasm.  He may be well suited to a large, calm natured young dog. Barney is not suitable for small animals such as cats or chickens as he sees them as toys.

Barney is learning to walk nicely on lead and will need an owner who is committed to continuing his on-lead training.  He is beginning to understand what is required but will still pull hard given the opportunity.  He needs consistency to keep what he has learned and needs to be walked every day. If you are not able to offer this please consider a different dog.

In the evenings Barney understands that his place is on his mat and he settles well there for several hours at his person’s feet.  Due to his puppyish chewing, he will need to sleep in a laundry or be crated overnight when unsupervised until he outgrows his chewing.

The perfect home for Barney will be with adults or children over 12 years, due to his size and exuberance.

If you are wanting a dog who will give you absolutely everything and loves to please you, please consider meeting Barney.

Barney comes desexed, vaccinated and microchipped.

Please note, a careful decision will be made concerning the best home for Barney and he may not be rehomed to the first person who applies.   I’m sure you understand. J
