Hi, my name is Frank but my friends call me Frankie or Frankles.

I have a super friendly and sweet nature, am affectionate and generally like everyone I meet (unless you’re a bird or cat of course!). It must be true, as I was used as a tester dog at the pound and was so good at it, I met 10 new dogs in one morning. I also currently live with two dogs who weren’t particularly keen on me at first or used to sharing their home with others, but I have definitely grown on them over the last few weeks – so much so that I am slowly becoming accepted as one of the pack.

Being a 2 year old blue heeler / kelpie cross, I have a lot of energy, am active and still quite playful. I walk well on a lead and love long walks and runs. I also enjoy lots of exercise and/or a good game of chasey with my toys and ball (although giving them back is a different story) or alternatively I can amuse myself by playing solo with my playthings. In saying that, I do appreciate a nap on the lounge during the day.

While I have learned basic obedience (sit, shake, stay, drop, wait), I need someone who will be a strong and patient leader who can continue to train me and teach me good manners. I am extremely bright and catch on super quick, so also need mental stimulation. As such, I will happily learn more if you teach me, especially if persuaded with tasty treats, encouraging words and/or cuddles.

I’m very loyal and can get attached to my family and can have some separation anxiety. I can get a bit wound up and probably a bit hyperactive in a new home and it takes a little while to settle with my foster family and their daily routine. I think I would fit into a new family with another calm dog to show me the ropes and help me. I need a family who is willing to be my leader and show me how to settle. I really love to work and play and learn so someone interested in training would def be my go to. I am not a dog that can be left alone for hours.

As I have lived indoors all my life, I am toilet trained. I learned to use my foster family’s two doggy doors from the first day of being there, so I could easily venture in and outside when I want and need. I’m not destructive either – except with my toys!

My favourite things: attention, cuddles, food, treats, playtime, walks and toys – all equal weighting…

My least favourite things: birds, cats and vacuum cleaners

If you think you’ll be able to give me the best life in my forever home, and are able to meet the following, I’d love for you to complete the application below:

  • A yard to play and at least a 1.8M fence
  • A patient, calm and firm (when necessary) mum, dad or guardian who is willing to continue my training
  • An active lifestyle and lots of toys
  • No young children but teenagers, or energetic dog brother or sister would be fine

'Rescued' is my favourite breed
