Fudge

Fudge

Animal ID No: ARF1164
Rescue Date: 7 May 2022
Adopted Date: 1 October 2022

Fudges favorite things are snuggling, being cozy, belly scratches, kisses and more snuggling!

This gentle and loving boy  just wants to spend the day snoozing on the couch with his humans. He loves to play tug and interact with his foster family. Since being in care, Fudge has taken on the responsibility of making sure all of the cardboard waste in the household is shredded to perfection, ensuring a more compact and efficient use of bin space. He takes his role very seriously and happily carries out his duties when his foster mum gives him boxes!

Fudge knows sit, drop, wait, shake and is crate and toilet trained, and knows to sit politely and wait for humans to open the gates and doors before being told he can go through. He has also been respectful of the boundaries in his current foster home, e.g. not being allowed on the humans bed. He is treat motivated and loves to please, so is a great learner!

Fudge struggled a little at leash walking when he first came into our care, but has since improved enormously. He has been an excellent student when on his training sessions with Trainer Ben from Outdoor Paws and has become much calmer and more confident.

Fudge does enjoy his walks, but he isn’t a super energetic or athletic dog (a bit of a couch potato at times) , so will cope with not going on a walk every day and doesn’t need to walk for miles and miles, but his new family should still be able to provide him with regular exercise and enrichment to keep him happy and healthy.

The perfect home for Fudge is a quiet one with no other pets, including dogs, or small children. He is quite worried about other dogs and prefers to be away from them when out on walks, so will need to be walked in areas where he has space and with owners who understand this need.

Fudges recall is pretty good and he enjoys going out to open areas on a 30m long leash. Fudge is not the kind of dog that is suitable for dog parks or other busy off leash places such as markets or popular dog walking locations on a busy Saturday morning. Fudge feels much more comfortable in quiet places where he can have space away from other dogs and people if needed.

Fudge has a bit of a sensitive tummy with certain foods so will also need a new family that is able and willing to keep up a good quality diet.

His perfect new home will have an outdoor space with secure fencing, at least 1.5m high and a cozy space for him to sleep indoors. Because Fudge does not really bark, he would could potentially live in an apartment or unit, so long as his owners were willing to take him outside for a walk every day and there is a place for him to go to the toilet.

If you have any questions about Fudge please email his foster carer for more info, or fill out an application form below.
