Halo

Halo

Animal ID No: ARF834
Rescue Date: 31 August 2021
Adopted Date: 11 December 2021

Halo is a beautiful 8 year old female staffy cross with a loving nature and looking for her forever home. She enjoys all the cuddles and attention you can give her, always preferring to be two steps behind her foster carer if she can, but is also very independent and will put herself to bed when she feels the need to have a nap.

Halo is a very intelligent lady learning all the basic commands within days of coming into care. She is very easily trained with treats and will do anything for a smacko. She walks well on lead, and loves to go for runs and hikes with her foster mum.

Due to her being just over 20 kgs and unaware of how strong she is, she would be better suited to a home with either no children or teenagers.

She has been in an apartment whilst in foster care and although she manages perfectly fine she would love a backyard to sunbake, sniff and play in.

Most of the time she is a lazy girl that enjoys sleeping but every now and then will tell you she wants to play by getting little zoomies.

After another dog at the park was mean to her she now needs slow introductions to other dogs. Once she knows other dogs she is fine but she can be a little scared to begin with that shows with her reactiveness. She is calmed down easily with treats and redirection of her energy.

She is fully crate trained for sleeping at night but if there was an option to snuggle in bed or on the lounge she would never pass it up.

Her foster carer works long days and halo has never had an issue being home alone. She has only had 3 accidents but will always hold on or let you know if she needs to go to the toilet. She is not destructive at all and has not once destroyed anything in the home when left alone for long hours.

Her favourite toy in the apartment is her treat ball which she will roll around for hours until all snacks have been dislodged and eaten.

When off leash her recall is good but it is even better when there are treats on the line.

When settling in she is very quiet until she gets to know her surrounds and you will know when she is comfortable when her tail starts wagging, it took 3 weeks until she wagged in foster care. Then you will get a surprise awoo when she is happy or excited out of the blue!

Halo is ultimately looking for a home where she is the only dog to get all the attention, if there is another dog or cat, slow introductions will be required. She needs older children that are aware of how strong she is or no children at all. She would love a backyard but can manage in an apartment as long as she gets lots of regular walks and outings.
