Harry
Harry is a young stumpy tailed red cattle dog, barely beyond a pup at 18 months old. Some behaviours are very good, he “sits”, improving with “wait” to be released, returns & drops the ball with “get the ball”. He sees everything in his environment as toys, including his beds, bags of soil & items left on an outside table. Being crate trained (“go to bed”) provides security when Harry is alone. He is clean in the crate. Harry’s recall in the yard is good
Harry walks well on lead. His manners when out for a walk towards other dogs are a work in progress. While in foster care, Harry has learned to look for a treat when he sees or hears another dog. He is growing in confidence with unusual movements when out & about, like cyclists or people jogging. He is happy to stop for a chat with a friendly person
In his youthful enthusiasm to greet visitors, Harry does jump up. He is learning “nuff” (enough) while the visitor turns away until he settles. He knows “nuff” ends ball chasing & pats/scratches
Harry will thrive in a home with ongoing thoughtful & consistent training. He wants to please & is highly treat motivated. He enjoys daily play such as “get the ball”
While Harry may progress to cafe dog in the future, he needs further training before this is attempted. He is not suitable to take to a dog park
Harry needs to be an only dog. He could possibly live with a dog-savvy cat
Harry needs someone home more often than not, he enjoys pottering about being a part of the family both inside & outside. Full time workers away from home will not be considered
Being a young & agile jumper, Harry needs a yard with secure 6 foot fencing. He is not suitable to home in an apartment
Harry may suit dog-savvy children over the age of 12. He needs daily walks with an adult
Previous cattle dog experience would be an advantage
