Obi

Obi

Animal ID No: ARF932
Rescue Date: 17 December 2021
Adopted Date: 7 February 2022

Obi is Big and Beautiful! His sad, soulful eyes will melt your heart and empty your treat jar. We think he is a Mastiff crossed with a Polar Bear, his favourite thing is flop onto your lap for big cuddles and belly scratches.

He is quite good with other dogs both large and small and is respectful of the older dogs at his foster home. He has also spent some time in a home with cats. He loves being part of the family and involved in all the activities happening. He is an expert on gardening and watering and would spend hours chasing the other pups around the yard. He loves to play in water and puts his whole snout in the water bowl for a drink.

He is a bit nervous around new people and it takes him a little while to relax. We have been working on his socialisation and this is improving quickly. He will need a patient owner who has the time to show him all the good things the world has to offer. Given this nervousness, Obi would be better in a home without young kids.

Obi has quite a deep bark which he uses to make sure people know when he is not comfortable or to alert us to anyone coming to the door. It can sound a little scary but is used quite sparingly.

As mentioned, he will be a very big dog and will need an owner who has had experience with big dogs in the past. He walks really well on a lead, staying right by your side. He is very gentle taking treats and food and is very food motivated, hence he is an extremely willing training participant. He bounces and does silly wiggly dances at mealtimes while he waits for us to put his bowl down.

Obi will benefit lots of positive socialisation and training opportunities. He has adapted to life with us and the changes we have thrown at us quite quickly, with many good experiences, Obi will be a happy goofy fun loving puppy.
