Oscar

Animal ID No: ARF1477
Rescue Date: 11 July 2023
Adopted Date: 17 August 2023

Baby Occie is an affectionate and sensitive little snuggle bug who just wants to be with his people. Cuddles, snuggles, hugs, pats, pets, laps, scritches and scratches are what Oscar lives for and make his day. He’ll snuggle up and lean back against you so you can reach the bestest spots on his tummy tum tum!

Oscar is estimated to be around 10 years old, but is a sprightly boy who loves daily walkies and playing with his foster fur brother and fur buddies at doggy daycare. He enjoys walkies so much, he pulls on the lead a little in his enthusiasm (good thing he’s such a little pupper!). Oscar enjoys chasing balls and toys, and a light game of tug-of-war. His vaccinations are up to date and has no current medical issues. Oscar needs routine grooming to keep him at his handsome and floofy best!

Oscar is very sociable and an absolute gentleman with other people and dogs. Oscar loves doggy daycare each week and is a perfect passenger in the car. He occasionally gets vocal protecting the property perimeter from intruders, but really just wants to be inside doing whatever you are and keeping an eye on the action and opportunities for snuggles.

Oscar has basic obedience training: “sitting”; being politely hesitant at dinner time; and peacefully sleeping through the night in his crate (though previously he’s slept on the bed). He has learnt to use the dog door (Oscar is toilet trained) and knows which toys are his. Oscar isn’t super food motivated, but has his soft spots for specific treats like freeze dried chimken.

Oscar would thrive in a house where his humans are around a lot to pat and cuddle him to his heart’s desire! He would also love a fur sibling who is up for plays and zoomies. He used to live with a cat and other dogs, so would be fine with other pets. Occie can be a little nervous and hesitant with new experiences, though he fairly quickly adjusts when you show him it’s ok. He gets scared and skittish around loud noises or unexpected fast movements, and appreciates being able to retreat to a safe space (e.g. out the dog door into the yard if the vacuum is feeling a bit intense). For this reason, we think he would probably do best with older children (over 12 years) who don’t feel too unpredictable for him.

If you think you’re the right home for little Occie, his foster family would love to hear from you! Please fill out the form below with as much detail as possible about what life in your home would be like 🙂
