Philly

Philly

Animal ID No: ARF976

Adopted Date: 13 March 2022

What can we say about our very own Philly ‘Cheese Steak’ who is a magnificent combination of flavours. He has thinly sliced layers of meathead play and melt in the mouth cuteness. He has some of the crunchy, assertiveness of onion but with the sweetness of when they are cooked. Like the melted cheese he has a lot of flavour and depending on what kind of cheese (owner) he has will determine the strength of flavour you get. All of this is in encased in a hoagie roll or let’s call it a very cute, unique outer casing.

In all honesty Philly is not a pup for the faint hearted and when I say that I mean despite his amazing ears and gorgeous face, he is a strong personality that will need consistency and boundaries.

He is good with other dogs and he has 4 doggy foster siblings that he hangs with, however, Philly has not experienced much dog to dog interaction so he definitely is not up on doggy etiquette or manners which means so can be a bit pushy or not get the memo on when the game is over. Of course in his short time on earth he has already spent one month of that at the pound which is sad as they can only do so much when it comes to all his basic puppy needs in regards to training and enrichment.

Philly is a food fiend and he is a smart cookie who picks up things quickly. He can sit and drop solidly and is walking well on lead and is learning stay. He is 95% toilet trained which for a 4 month old pup is pretty epic and the times he has had accidents have been more on us not being on the ball than him. He sleeps in a crate through the night and is happy and comfortable in there and goes in there also during his ‘nap times’ in the day. He is a record holder in our house for completing mental enrichment games for a baby that is impressive. He also loves to play fetch with the ball and will reliably bring it back at least 7 times before his attention wanes a little.

Philly needs a home where he will very much be part of the family with older kids as he gets too excited and jumpy with young kids and he would be best suited in a home with a slightly older chilled out dog that is not going to sweat his lack of manners while he is learning, or he could live as a single dog in a home that will ensure he has plenty of positive doggy play dates.

The most important thing to us as his foster family is to find the right home for Philly as I know based on his amazing looks he could appeal to many, however, he needs a home that is going to give him training, boundaries and consistency for good.
