Rescue Date: 21 November 2022
Adopted Date: 30 January 2023

Pippi is a sweet natured and gentle little brown dog of mixed ancestry 😊 weighing in at about 4kgs.  She’s had a few homes before her foster home and that shaky start in life has had a few consequences. Physically, she was born with a very undershot jaw which has meant her lower canines have had to be removed – no long-term drawbacks from that other than her winning percentage in games of tug with my own small dog has dropped!

Psychologically, Pip is a little timid and does startle easily so will often bark.  She’s very shy and unsure of people she doesn’t know however once she’s comfortable and gains your trust, she’ll be your very best friend. She absolutely loves human touch and handling.  Because Pip has had an inconsistent start to life she will need good structure and stability as well as an owner prepared to help build her confidence.  Her previous life was a bit chaotic so a more tranquil and peaceful home without children would be her best match.  It takes Pip time to adjust and get comfortable with new surroundings and people so an understanding and knowledge in this area would help her greatly.

Once she finds her confidence, she’s quite the active lively little miss and quite vocal about the fun she is having. She absolutely loves her toys and will sometimes play by herself.  Mostly though she loves to play with our small male terrier.  She has lot of energy and will run at high speed when off lead clearly having fun loving every minute.  Pippi and my dog love to play chase, do zoomies and tug and anything else they can think of.  These are the reasons Pip would do best in a home with another dog and one that can help with her confidence. VIDEO chasing birds!

If there is food around then you are her best friend!  Pippi has a very healthy appetite, almost inhaling her food.  She will eat anything and everything you give her.  I have used this to my advantage when training!  Her motivation for food/treats plus her ability to learn new things make for a great combination.  She does know sit, wait, and has a really good recall, as long as she isn’t too busy chasing birds! On lead she’s walks reasonably well, pulls very little but does tend to wiggle around in front of you.  Pip is good with other dogs and happy to say hi on a walk but is always quite wary of people.

She is almost there with housetraining, sleeps all night in her crate (next to my three dogs in their crates) and learned the dog door almost the minute she arrived!  She also travels well in the car.

The best match for Pippi would a home with another small male dog perhaps one that is a bit older that will help her learn doggie manners (she can be a bit too excited sometimes when playing) but young enough to want to play because that’s what she loves.

If you think Pip would be a good match for you, please kindly complete the enquiry form below.
