Pond

Pond

Animal ID No: ARF1401
Rescue Date: 5 April 2023
Adopted Date: 16 June 2023

Pond is a young Australian Silky Terrier just starting out in life.  He is sometimes confident and sometimes timid – depending on the circumstance.  Around the home he’s super confident, playful and a typical puppy.  At home, he loves nothing better than to play chasings and rough and tumble games with his foster carer’s dog.  Pond sleeps quietly in his crate overnight and is very open to the idea of cuddles in bed in the morning. He is housetrained (finally!!) and will need a doggy door in his new home. He loves his paddling pool and would still be paddling in the depths of winter if it wasn’t put away!

Sadly, out on walks Pond is often overwhelmed by some of the sights and sounds of the world.  He’s also very nervous of people he doesn’t know. Pond is looking for an owner who’ll help him continue to grow more confident in the world by taking things in small steps (literally and figuratively) and at his pace. Even though he sometimes gets overwhelmed, he’s still very keen to head off for a walk each day and he’s happy travelling in the car.

Pond will need regular clipping by a groomer every six weeks to keep his coat at a practical length.  He enjoys meeting and playing with other well-mannered dogs.  He’s looking for a home with another friendly small dog (preferably female) who’ll be his playmate and confidence building buddy.  He’s also looking for a quieter home either without children or with older children over about 10 years old.

Pond is a lovely little pup looking for an experienced dog owner (Canberra or nearby) who will help him grow up to be a happy, loved, well-behaved part of the family. If you’re interested in adopting Pond, please fill in the enquiry form below and under the question ‘Why are you considering a rescue dog?‘, include some information about what attributes you’re looking for in your new pet, your previous experience with timid dogs and some general info about the home you’d offer Pond.
