Arnie

Arnie

Animal ID No: ARF993
Rescue Date: 7 March 2022
Adopted Date: 12 May 2022

Arnie is a 7 year old sweetheart who, until a few months ago, was living with his elderly owner. Unfortunately his owner has had to move into permanent care and was unable to take his mate with him, so he’s currently living in kennels but would really love to be settled with a new family.

Arnie is fully house trained and is happy lounging on a dog bed or rolling around on a lush green lawn. If you walk anywhere near him while he’s relaxing be prepared for the loud thud, thud, thud of his tail whacking the floor! He greets you in the mornings with a full body waggle, literally wagging from head to tail!! Arnie has been spending weekends at the home of a foster carer where he shares his space with two children (aged 12 and 14). He doesn’t jump around or get over excited in the house, so he would probably be fine around children younger than this, though he hasn’t been observed around very young children.

Arnie walks fairly well on lead and enjoys a good sniff of his surroundings – he is strong if he suddenly wants to go in a certain direction, but it’s usually because he’s picked up on a scent of something else to sniff…so there’s a bit of zig-zagging on his walks.  He knows sit and shake and appears to be food-motivated and wants to please his people – so training should come fairly easily to Arnie.

He doesn’t really enjoy boisterous play and is fairly independent when it comes to another dog’s company – he would happily co-exist with another dog if it is a similar temperament to him. Unfortunately Arnie wouldn’t be suited to a household with cats.

If you think you can give Arnie the loving, caring life that he deserves, please get in contact.
