Toby

Toby

Animal ID No: ARF706
Rescue Date: 29 March 2021
Adopted Date: 24 July 2021

Toby is a 1.5 year old Mastiff cross with a beautiful brindle tuxedo coat. He is approx. 28-30kg.

Toby is a big, beautiful good-natured dog that came to us as a stray and has done a lot of learning. He has been working very hard on his manners and training but this is a work in progress.

He is house trained and crate trained. He knows sit, drop, stop, stay, wait, come. He is learning not to nip and jump, and working on general manners. He is not 100% consistent on any training yet, but has come a very long way.

He has been trained to loose lead walk on the left, stop and sit at corners and is well behaved on walks. He would make a great hiking and adventure partner. He loves spending time outside.

He has also been doing touch and focus training where he needs to touch items. This is good to mentally stimulate him. He is scent focused, so scent training would be good for him too.

Toby is an active energetic dog that doesn’t realise his size and strength. As he does still jump and is rigorous in his attempts to get cuddles and love, he should not be in a home with small humans. He loves to play with balls, toys and sticks, but will knock over things in his path.

Toby is generally good with other dogs, but will bark and respond to other dogs being reactive. He has not been tested with other animals.

He will need a new home that is active, patient and willing to put in the time with his continued training. He is looking for a home with a big backyard with a good colour bond fence. He needs a home with experienced dog owners.

'Rescued' is my favourite breed
