Radar

Animal ID No: ARF814
Rescue Date: 1 September 2021
Adopted Date: 8 November 2021

Radar is a young boy who loves life! He is very affectionate with people, and will do anything to get your attention and your love.

Radar is food motivated and eager to please, and we have found that with consistency and patience, he has been able to pick up on new tricks and figure out what you want him to do.

Radar walks well on the leash, he is crate trained and has been sleeping in his crate overnight and while we’ve been away from home (for up to 4 hours), and he is not a barker. He has been great with the guests that we have had over, and was polite and playful with our friend’s dog.

Radar has not had exposure to many things in his young life, so he can be easily startled by new things and need reassurance. However, we have found that he adjusts well and eventually gets used to new experiences (such as the robot vacuum and lawnmower) if you take the time to make these new introductions a positive experience and introduce them to him slowly. He asks that you take the time to get to know him and build trust with him before asking too much of him.

Radar is only around a year old – and still has many puppy-like tendencies and will need an owner to continue to teach him boundaries and work on his manners. Radar can easily get overexcited and nip at your hands and feet to get your attention. He also likes to paw at you to get your attention. We have been working on these issues and he has made improvements but he will need a firm owner to continue to work on this and continue to teach him acceptable behaviour. Radar has not been around children and would be best suited to a family without children until he learns a few more manners.

Radar loves attention and loves following you around the house. He also likes zooming around the backyard and chasing after toys. He has been happy to be in the yard by himself, but does sit by the door to ask to come in if he sees you inside as he likes to be with his people. Radar would love to go for walks twice a day (with an obligatory zoom around the backyard after) and with two walks a day he is generally happy to chill on his bed or entertain himself with his toys.

Radar would love an experienced dog owner who is willing to keep up with his training and build his confidence, and will give lots of love and affection in return. If this sounds like you, please fill in the form below and we will get back to you!
