More About Maxie

Sweet miss Maxie is on the lookout for her forever home.

Maxie came into care with not a lot of exposure to the outside world, but she has slowly been getting more comfortable and showing her true colours. She is a big sweetheart who loves pats and rubs.
She loves lounging around in the house and backyard. Once she settles into her new home, she can be a very chill girl.

She is gaining her foothold on what is means to be a good doggy citizen and has made amazing strides since being in care. She would like to continue exploring what makes life great (family, walks, playing). She will require commitment to her ongoing exposure and training and would benefit from an experienced dog owner who can help her navigate the world at her own pace.

She is smart and has been learning commands and behaviours quickly – she is food and praise motivated, which helps a lot! She loves food puzzle games and playing ball (which is kind of like fetch, but you have to do a lot of the actual fetching yourself – it’s a great game if you both want to get your steps up).

Max is happiest when she is in an only-dog household and can be the apple of your eye. She could possibly be rehomed with another dog, but would need slow introductions and a few meet and greets. I suspect she grew up as an only dog. She is not suitable with cats and or young children (under 12 years).

When she came into care, she was quite nervous being on the lead and in the car. She has made amazing progress with her confidence and will now happily have her lead on and is more excited to go for walks. She walks quite well on the lead and loves sniffing her way around the block. She has been getting more confident being in the car and is learning that a car trip can lead to very fun things like going to the park. She still has work to do with her confidence building in these areas, but with exposure and patience I’m confident that she will get there. She is still not ready for long road trips though.

Maxie is such a lovely girl who is looking for a special, loving home that will help bring her out of her shell and you’ll have a lifelong friend.

If your enquiry is unsuccessful, rest assured that the foster carer has carefully based their decision on a thorough knowledge and understanding of the dog’s needs.
