More About Dinah

Hi! My name is Dinah! I’m a crossbreed. I am a big girl with an even bigger heart. My foster Mum says I will be hard to part with so she is looking for the perfect forever home for me. I’m still a young girl (3 – 4  years old), and I would love to have a nice backyard to run around in.  I’m not a very high energy girl but do need need a regular walk to get some exercise and do some exploring. I am then happy to relax for the rest of the day.

I am great with people. I’ll take all the pats and love you can give, and love nothing more than hanging out with my people the whole day. I would love a home where someone is working from home so I have company. I can get excited when meeting people but I am learning good manners and settle quickly. I am also learning to play with toys. I have been in a house with a 5 month old baby girl and absolutely adored my little foster sister. However, my foster mum says that due to my size my interactions with small children should be supervised and I would be better in a home with older children.

I’m a really smart girl and find it easy to learn new things. So far I have learnt sit, wait, heel, come and wait before dinner. I am well trained in the home and on the lead when walking but can get very excited when I see another dog. My foster mum says that I need consistency in day-to-day life and a new experienced owner who can maintain my training would be great.

Initial introductions with other dogs need to be carefully managed as I am a dominant dog. I have had a lot of training whilst on the lead with other dogs and have played with dogs at boarding kennels but I can be insecure with the wrong dog or if a dog rushes me when I am on the lead. My foster mum and I have been doing a lot of training and I am learning to control my excitability and insecurity with  reinforcement and reassurance. I will need a new owner who can continue to work with me on this issue. I would be best suited as being the only dog in a home.

If you are interested in giving me a new home, please get in touch!

PLEASE NOTE: Dinah is not suitable for a first-time dog owner. Due to the ongoing training requirements, she is best suited to somebody who has experience with large, excitable breeds, and who is willing to put in the time and effort to continue the good-canine-citizen education of this lovely girl.

Thank you for considering an ARF dog. Most dogs receive many enquiries, and we aim to match the right dog to the right home so that they can enjoy a happy life together. If your enquiry is unsuccessful, rest assured that the foster carer has carefully based their decision on a thorough knowledge and understanding of the dog’s needs.
